NDRR Nightmare at Arlington (5k & 10k)

Event Details:

You must be 18 to enter- This race is scary! It is not for people under the age of 18.

At sun set on the 21st of October 2017 the North Devon Road Runners will be hosting there third Halloween themed head torch run which will take place around the grounds of the spooky 200-year-old National Trust property Arlington Court.

ENTER HERE

During the run you will encounter all manner of twisted, evil, scary creatures from zombies, to werewolves to vampires and there will be some new characters waiting for you in the woods. Expect to be jumped out on, for things to grab you, for you to be harassed and mentally tortured as you take on the Nightmare. There will be live music before and after the run with the national trust offering Cider, beer and Wine in the tea room to help calm your nerves if you make it back alive.

We are laying on a bus to go to the event starting from Ilfracombe, going to Barnstaple via Braunton and then on to the race. On the way back, the bus will be stopping at The Pynes Arms for refreshments. You can only book a bus ticket through the registration process.

The National Trust will be providing a tasty meal, but it must be pre-ordered, beef chilli, veggie chilli and hot dogs are on the menu this year or lighter refreshment will be available across the counter on the evening. You can only pre-order food through the registration process.

Please print your ticket if you order food and/or a bus ticket

We will be offering two distances; the shorter route is The 5k Of Fear and the longer scary route for the braver runners is the 10K of Terror. Both routes will have glow sticks illuminating the course for you to follow as well as signs and marshals. Fancy dress is highly recommended to help make this a fun and memorable evening. The fancy dress shop in Barnstaple called BONKERS will be doing a special deal for Nightmare runners and giving 20 % off costume hire and sales. Fancy dress is not compulsory but really encouraged with virtually every runner and helper dress to scar last year. There will be two very sinister drinks stations on route where there will be a much-earned surprise awaiting you. All runners will receive a memento after the race if you manage to survive all the twisted characters you encounter and if you are scared of clowns perhaps this might not be your race as we have some very scary ones.

You must be 18 to enter this event and you must have a working head torch with spare batteries.

Torrington Christmas Caper 2017 (Replacing Weston Christmas Cracker)

Torrington Christmas Caper – Sunday 17th December 2017

In past year's the club has put on a coach to the "Weston Christmas Cracker". However this year, the latter clashes with the "Torrington Christmas Caper", which has also always been well supported by NDRR's.

As it was felt important to support local races in favour of 'away' runs, the decision has been made to put on a coach for the "Torrington Christmas Caper" in 2017.

This also presents a nice change and will hopefully enable more people to attend. It is also apparent that IRC will be supporting Torrington this year.

More details will be issued regarding coach fees and entry details nearer the time.

* Note: We appreciate that 2 or 3 people have entered the Christmas Cracker and we are certainly not preventing you from attending the latter, however a coach will not be organised by the club on this occaission. Becky (Social Secratary) would be happy to provide details for coach hire should numbers swell and you do not want to use your own transport.
