Some of you may have played a critical part in delivering essential services as a key-worker, while others will have had to take on the role as primary carer /or teacher to parents /or children. Many will have been affected by the uncertainty of being furloughed. Others in the club may still be shielding.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003eWe sincerely hope that during this time, you and your loved ones have kept safe and well, while we also thank all of you who have been performing essential work.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003eThese crazy few months will have impacted all of us differently, but what has been a joy to see is the number of miles that have been recorded on \u003ca target=\"_blank\" href=\"https://www.strava.com/clubs/northdevonroadrunners\"\u003eStrava\u003c/a\u003e, even during the strictest of the lockdown measures. It has been great to see how many of you have improved during this time and equally pleasing, has been the number of routes and trails discovered when we were only able to exercise from our doorstep.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003eThe above all said; indications are that social distancing rules are going to be further relaxed from the 4th of July. This DOES NOT mean we should become apathetic to the threat of COVID-19 however and regardless of how we move forward as a club in the coming weeks, it will undoubtedly have to be different for the foreseeable future.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003eEnglish Athletics are now endorsing clubs to meet, albeit in groups of no more than six at a time and provided social distance measures apply between members of a group.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003eGiven the above, we will be offering some opportunities for club members to meet. (\u003cem\u003eCovered later in this note.\u003c/em\u003e) However, the Tarka Tennis Centre has no date in mind to open as yet, and regardless of which, we should not be assembling indoors with the current government advice. As a result, we will need to arrange any sessions away from /or outside of the Tarka Tennis Centre until further notice. Also; although the club will make every effort to facilitate opportunities for you to meet, it remains incumbent on you individually to follow the relevant government guidelines applicable at any given time.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003eNow that is out the way. Onto some good news we think.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003eSome of you will have participated in the \"Bingo Run\" Zoe Smith organised, and reports were that this went down well, so we will be offering similar activities in the coming weeks. Many are already completing the second leg. Routes with a negative elevation will incur a big penalty. Do not do this. Then, run back down the pyramid – 9 lampposts, 1 lamppost recovery, 8 lampposts, 1 lamppost recovery...\u003c/li\u003e\u003cli\u003eRolling hills – Find a hilly route, once you have warmed up for 10 mins, every time you come across a hill, run a hard effort to the top then walk/jog until you get your breath back and then continue at a steady pace until you find another hill! \u003c/li\u003e\u003cli\u003eTimed pyramid session – 5 min, 4 min, 3 min, 2 min, 1 min, 2 min, 3 min, 4 min, 5 min efforts – all with 60 secs recovery jog/walk\u003c/li\u003e\u003cli\u003eFind a squarish field – Run 3 sides hard effort and walk back 1 side for 8 – 10 reps.\u003c/li\u003e\u003cli\u003eSocial distanced field session with one other runner – start at opposite corners of roughly 4-sided pitch/field. Both runners effort is covering 2 sides of the pitch/field – recovery = walk/jog back to your starting point. \u003c/li\u003e\u003cli\u003eSocial distanced session with one other runner – Find a nice reasonable length hill. Runner 1 starts at the bottom while runner 2 starts from halfway. The effort for runner 1 is to run to where runner 2 started, and the effort of runner 2 is to the top of the hill.
